Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from her household, the actress was brought up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. She suffered from an anxiety disorder that was rooted in words as a young teenager. Ford began to become interested in acting during her teenage years and joined the National Youth Theatre. She got into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just one month, she decided that it wasn't suitable for her. Ford applied instead at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was eventually offered an interview on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. The actor was later to play frequent roles on the show as Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford could graduate in 1993. However, she already made a TV appearance in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. During the Nineties, Tate could be watched on television in programs like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. Tate was a regular performer on stage, and joined The Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate was first noticed due to her stand-up comedy in the year 1996.
